The mutual trade turnover between Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan increased by 63.5%

As part of the implementation of the National Project "International Cooperation and Export", Bashkortostan's foreign trade turnover with Uzbekistan increased by 63.5% in the first 4 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year. At the same time, 87% of the mutual trade turnover consisted of exports to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During this period, we record an increase in exports from Bashkortostan to Uzbekistan by 72.8% and imports by 18.6%. At the same time, according to the results of January-March of this year, the basis of exports from our republic to this country were mineral products, chemical industry products, rubber, wood and pulp and paper products, food products and raw materials, metals and products made from them, machine-building products. Mutual visits largely influence the development of foreign economic relations between Bashkortostan and Uzbekistan. In May alone, 7 Uzbek delegations from 5 regions visited our region: Bukhara, Tashkent, Ferghana, Namangan regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan. New agreements have been reached, which are reflected in the Roadmap for the development of cooperation signed at the investment sabantuy "Trans-Urals-2024". It included 278 events, including the construction of a joint technopark in the Tashkent region, said Margarita Bolycheva, Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activities of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

In January-March 2024, the basis of imports from Uzbekistan to the region were metals and products made from them, textiles, textiles and footwear, machine-building products, foodstuffs and raw materials.

According to the results of 2023, the Republic of Uzbekistan took 5th place in the foreign trade turnover of the Republic of Bashkortostan with a share of 3.8%, rising by 3 positions in this rating over the year. At the same time, the volume of imports to the region, represented mainly by metals and products made from them, textiles, textiles and footwear, mineral products, chemical industry products, machine-building products, foodstuffs and raw materials, decreased by 16.9%.

Margarita Bolycheva also noted that a delegation from the region headed by Nail Gabbasov, General Director of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, went to Uzbekistan to work out issues of implementing the technopark project, since the agency will be its management company from Bashkortostan.

The Development Corporation has extensive experience in creating and managing territories with preferential regimes. Now, together with colleagues from Uzbekistan, we are actively working on the organizational processes of creating a joint technopark, understanding all the nuances and mechanisms. In addition, we have already identified a pool of potential residents of the future technopark and are negotiating with them," said Nail Gabbasov, General Director of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

According to the head of the department, the region is interested in strengthening cooperation in terms of investments in tourism, production and processing of agricultural raw materials. At the same time, in the field of increasing export supplies from Bashkortostan to Uzbekistan, the most priority are mineral fuels, oil and products of their distillation, bituminous substances, mineral waxes, wood and products made from it, charcoal.
