A battery manufacturer from Belarus is considering the possibility of localizing a plant in Bashkortostan

24.11.2023

As part of the third day of the XVI International Business Week (MNS-2023), Alexey Shilenok, Financial Director of the Management Company of the 1AK-GROUP Holding, stated that Bashkortostan is one of the priority territories for the production of battery separators and lithium batteries due to the developed economic and chemical infrastructures. The meeting with the Belarusian delegation was held under the leadership of the Trade Representative of the Republic of Bashkortostan at the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus Konstantin Klimin.

The Republic of Belarus is one of Bashkortostan's key partners on the world stage. We regularly make mutual visits and implement joint projects. In particular, on October 10, the plant for the production of grain drying equipment "Amkodor-Agidel" was launched. We continue to cooperate with our Belarusian colleagues and are already building another plant. "Amkodor-Alga" will produce graders, bulldozers and excavators. The volume of investments will amount to more than 8 billion rubles," Margarita Bolycheva, Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activities of the Republic of Bashkortostan, shared.

Nail Gabbasov, Director General of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, commented on the prospects for cooperation and intentions regarding the implementation of this project.

One of the main points in the implementation of such projects is the selection of a site for localization of production. Another important point is the implementation of the initiative with the maximum number of preferences. That is why we offered the investor to consider the possibility of placing the enterprise on the territory of the SEZ "Alga", whose residents receive a number of tax, rental and customs benefits. Following the results of the last meeting, together with colleagues, it was decided to further develop the project. Having studied its parameters in detail, we will offer the most suitable sites for production, Nail Gabbasov said.

During the discussion of the projects, Alexey Shilenok noted the simplicity and low cost of producing separators for batteries. At the same time, this product is in great demand on the market due to the fact that it is impossible to assemble lead-acid batteries without a separator, which are used in vehicles, emergency power sources and backup energy sources.

An equally important topic of the meeting was the project to localize the production of industrial batteries in the Republic of Bashkortostan, in particular lithium batteries. The scope of application of the product is quite extensive due to the large number of charge-discharge cycles, high residual capacity and operational safety. This type of batteries is mainly used in electric vehicles. Now the project is at the stage of inclusion in the Roadmap for the development of cooperation between Bashkortostan and Belarus.

At the end of the event, the participants discussed the issue of processing industrial waste in order to separate the residues of cobalt, nickel and lithium for further use in work. Thanks to the developed chemical industry of the Republic of Bashkortostan, it is able to efficiently process waste from the production of lithium batteries.
