The SEZ "Alga" has passed an ESG audit

In the special economic zone "Alga" was audited the implementation of the principles of sustainable development, assuming a responsible attitude to the environment, high social responsibility and quality of corporate governance. The ESG parameters were evaluated by an expert group of the Association of Clusters, Technoparks and SEZs of Russia. Five SEZ sites were subject to audit, including also the territory of the Ufa Industrial Park, which was previously included in the special economic zone by a decree of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Nail Gabbasov, General Director of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, commented on the ESG audit in the preferential zone. Recall that the agency is the management company of the SEZ "Alga".

- We observe a positive effect of the introduction of ESG principles into the work of the management company. The result of systematic work in this direction was also noted by colleagues from the AKIT of the Russian Federation during the ESG audit. At the moment, we are intensively working on promoting the ESG agenda with SEZ residents, who are also implementing a given trend of achieving sustainable development goals at enterprises. Thus, the practice of implementing the ESG model in the SEZ "Alga" should lead to an increase in the investment attractiveness not only of the preferential zone, but also of the region as a whole," Nail Gabbasov emphasized.

As the Deputy director of the Association for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development Daria Gulyaeva noted, the management company of the SEZ "Alga" is actively implementing the ESG model. Energy-saving equipment is used at the sites, the territory is being landscaped, electronic document management is being conducted, non-financial reporting is being disclosed, and personnel policy is being actively pursued.

Based on the results of the audit, the expert group will prepare a number of recommendations that will form the basis of the strategy for the sustainable development of the SEZ "Alga".

Recall that in 2022, the SEZ "Alga" and the industrial park "Ufa" became the first infrastructure sites in Russia that placed their non-financial reporting in the public domain.
